About Albany

Albany is the oldest settlement on the southern shores of Western Australia. It has a strong maritime heritage and influence with many historical buildings and sites still in existence.

It is set amidst some of the most stunning coastal scenery to be found anywhere. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, forests, mountains, pristine white sandy beaches, bays, islands and rivers with links to the agricultural hinterland and wineries.

Summer and Autumn are ideal for swimming, sailing and fishing. In Winter, the migrating whales can be seen along the beaches and in the bays. Spring time is renowned for the wildflowers – many unique to this area.

There are many beautiful walk trails in and around Albany, revealing not only its fascinating history, but also its stunning scenery and coastal views.

Art, craft and woodwork galleries abound in the area, as do local wineries.

On weekends The Boatshed Fisherman & Farmer markets are bustling with fresh local produce, from superb cheeses, bread, smoked fish and meats, vegetables, fruits, flowers and preserves to home-grown musicians to add atmosphere.

Albany has become a vibrant country city with a variety of excellent cafes and restaurants and small boutique shops. A place of charm, beauty and unique character.
